7/17/13: Comcast-Spectacor Charities donated fans to the Philadelphia Senior Center during one of the hottest weeks of summer. With temperatures in the high 90s, large box fans were given to hundreds of elderly Philly residents to help them beat the heat.
Ovations Food Services, a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor, encourages their team – from the home office to client facilities – to get involved through an outreach program called Ovations Cares™.
Ovations at PPL Park, home of the MLS Philadelphia Union, is a great example of Ovations Cares™ in action! Ovations at PPL Park was recently recognized by Cityteam Ministries, a local food pantry that assists the people of Chester, PA for helping provide 69,301 hot meals, 5,592 food boxes and 21,912 people with fresh produce, assorted meats and baked goods.
For Comcast Cares Week this April, employees of Comcast-Spectacor participated in a Philabundance Food Drive, Scanlon Ice Rink Cleanup and Blood Drive. Almost 250 employees took part in these various volunteer efforts, and 2707 lbs of food were donated to Philabundance—enough to provide meals for about 3,000 people in need.
